In the Ṛg Veda, we have a portion which reveals a mysterious deity of the forest region ( Āraṇyānī). This portion is found as the 10th Maṇḍala as the 146th Sūkta. It is colloquially called Āraṇyānī Sūktam (Āraṇya: forest).
