Noble Tamizh King? : The Unspoken Rape Pursuit of Ravanasura

In all standard sampradayas and scriptures of ancient India, Shri Rama is without doubt seen and regarded divine and as one of the prominent incarnations who walked this planet.

Being a 90's kid, Ramachandra always topped my hierarchy of heroes, even surpassing Rajnikanth. We were very much exposed to the Itihāsa that took the form as colored books and films.

Lately, fanatics backed with political motives have started to virtually perform a non-invasive craniotomy to infuse hatred towards our own culture.

Have you noticed how various baseless self-proposed theories on Ravana being a Tamizh King have been on the rise lately?

Certain ill-thinking groups in Tamizh Nadu are all out to destroy the Indian culture and Itihasas that have been our very breath. Their anti-Hindu nature and hatred for Brahmins have taken various forms that have successfully brainwashed many.

They have even gone to the extent to label Shri Rama as an outsider who sabotaged Ravana - who was apparently a pure Tamizh King.

They have absolutely no support for these claims. In addition, let's look at how we can debunk this filthy theory.

The very idea of Rama and Ravana is derived from our Itihasa - Valmiki's Ramayana to be specific. Every version of Rama's story is inspired by this - be it Ramakien of Thailand, Kamba Ramayana, Rāmacaritamānasa by Tulsidas, or Rāmopākhyāna in the Mahabharata.

In other words, without Vālmīki Ramayana, you would not even hear about Rama or Ravana. So let's see what Valmiki's Ramayana has to say about Ravana.

Ravana was never a noble persona. He was brilliant intellectually. He was a master of knowledge and skills. But, he was also a rapist who used to kidnap women, imprison and sexually abuse them. The scriptures even describe the names of the women who were raped by Ravana ( Found in six verses from the 13th canto of Yuddhakanda in Valmiki Ramayana ).

In this chapter, Mahaparshva suggests Ravana to forcibly violate Sita Devi, to which Ravana responds...

Quoting Valmiki Ramayana:

13th Canto, Yuddha Khanda

mahāpārśva nibodha tvaṃ rahasyaṃ kiñcidātmanaḥ। ciravṛttaṃ tadākhyāsye yadavāptaṃ purā mayā॥

Translation:
Ravana confesses to Mahaparshva: I will now tell you a secret of mine, which I committed a long time ago..

pitāmahasya bhavanaṃ gacchantīṃ puñjikasthalām।
cañcūryamāṇāmadrākṣamākāśe'gniśikhāmiva ॥

Translation:
Ravana continues: Once I saw the apsara Punjikasthala rushing to the abode of Brahma in the skies. She resembled a fiery flame.

sā prasahya mayā bhuktā kṛtā vivasanā tataḥ। svayambhūbhavanaṃ prāptā lolitā nalinī yathā॥

Translation:
Ravana then says: After stripping and restraining her, I raped ( enjoyed ) her. She reached the abode of Brahma like a trampled lotus.

tasya tacca tathā manye jñātamāsīnmahātmanaḥ । atha saṅkupito vedhā māmidaṃ vākyamabravīt॥

Translation:
Ravana adds: I guess the revered Brahma learned that. Now, an enraged Brahma thus verbally responded...

adya prabhṛti yāmanyāṃ balānnārī gamiṣyasi। tadā te śatadhā mūrdhā phaliṣyati na saṃśayaḥ॥

Translation:
Brahma's words: From today, should you rape a woman, your head shall burst into a hundred pieces.

ityahaṃ tasya śāpasya bhītaḥ prasabhameva tām। nārohaye balātsītāṃ vaidehīṃ śayane śubhe॥

Translation:
Ravana confesses: Due to fear, I did not and am unable to forcibly make Sita climb on a beautiful bed.

Ravana is also known to have raped apsara Rambha and even attempted rape on Vedavati.

He had NOTHING to do with Tamizhs! Ravana is a hybrid. His father is a Brahmana ( Sage  Viśrava, the son of Pulastya )
while his mother, an Asura ( Princess Kaikasī ). If Ramayana was a plot created by the Aryans to glorify Brahmins, why would they credit a villain as a brahmin? In fact, Rama who is the very incarnate of divinity was a Kshatriya.

It was Rama who had contact with the ancient Tamizhs. Rama belongs to the Ikṣvāku dynasty and he was dark-skinned.The Chozhas also belong to the same dynasty.

If Ravana was a Dravidian King cooing ' Tamizhanda' like how these Dravidian ideologists claim, why did he compose the famous 'shiva tandava stotra' in Sanskrit? Why not in Tamizh?

It was Rama who conversed in Tamizh. Lord Hanuman even refers to Tamizh as Madhu Vakya - the nectarine language.

(4) He kidnapped Sita not to avenge his sister! Ravana was only interested in Sita Devi after śūrpaṇakhā described her beauty. That was why he used his cunning ways to kidnap Sita Devi.

Follow Bonafide Tamizh Icons

It is time Tamizhs stop presenting their volatile sentiments as bait for political parties to yank on. Random Youtubers and ideologists are not your Tamizh icons. Go back to Sangam literature. Go back to our poets. Search for the assumed claim of the so called Tamizh identity of the rapist.

    1. Plenty..

This is from Puṟanāṉūṟu, Sangam literature. This verse refers to Ravana as 'arakkan' which translates to demon. It also speaks of Lord Rama in a noble manner and His consort, Sita Devi.

    2. Quoting அகநானூறு, another Sangam Literature:

      வென்வேற் கவுரியர் தொன்முது கோடி
      முழங்கிரும் பௌவம் இரங்கும் முன்றுறை
      வெல்போர் இராமன் அருமறைக்கு அவித்த
      பல்வீழ் ஆலம்

I am sure you can translate this and finds the reference for Rama
